The (kinda) False Alarm

Yesterday started out really fun, then turned a little exciting. We took Julie to the beach and went to Sylvester's in Los Osos (so amazingly good! I want to go back today!!) with Justin and Audrey. On the way home, I started having contractions. They were not super painful, but were about 8 minutes apart. So when I got home, they still had not stopped, so I called the Doctor and she said to go to Labor and Delivery. When I got there, they hooked me up to a monitor to see how the contractions were progressing. They were 4 minutes apart!

But, since I was only dilated a little bit, and still 5 weeks from my actual due date, they decided to give me a steroid shot to stop the contractions. We were there for about 3 hours, and Andy's heart beat was strong and healthy the whole time. He was active the whole time I was having contractions, it was just a little too early for him to come. I have still been having contractions off and on all day, but nothing regular like last night. Maybe this means he will come out soon, just not too soon!

So, I am taking it easy this week, I want to make sure that I am at Justin and Audrey's wedding on Saturday, but after that, I say it is fair game for a Birthday!

This Week

We have had a pretty productive week so far. On Saturday after we watched Justin run, we preregistered at the hospital, so they know we are coming at some point. It's funny, when we were pregnant with Julie, we registered at about 6 months. We are so much more relaxed about this one. I don't know if that is because we have done this before, or if we have just not realized yet what we have gotten ourselves into!
After registering, we met Popop and CC (aka Mel and Colleen) at the beach and let Julie play a little. She was WILD! she could not get enough of the water and sand. She had so much fun that we took her back to the beach on Sunday with my mom, Justin and Audrey. Then we went out to a fun dinner in Morro Bay. It was a great weekend, very relaxing.
Tuesday Julie went to the doctor for her 18 month shots and checkup. He says she is perfect and offered to take her home. He also said she was "abnormally social" but I think most of us already knew that. She did so well at the doctor that she got a special new toy when Daddy got home (actually, I think he just couldn't pass it up). She piles as much into it as possible and runs up and down the halls of our house.
She also has a few new sayings. This morning she started saying "see ya!" when someone is leaving. She also says "byebye Peepee" whenever we changer her diaper. Ha!

Run Justin Run!

This morning we watched Uncle Justin run in the Hares and Hounds. He did awesome and Julie had a really fun time cheering all the runners on. It was a really pretty morning so it was nice to be out and about at a reasonable hour on a Saturday.

We were able to play at the park afterward and hang out with Poppy and Coppy, which was fun. And, since it was so early, Julie got the whole play structure all to herself. She was having a blast.

Julie loved the slide, even though it was wet. And, she is now a pro at walking Copper. Luckily Copper is very cooperative.

Up to date

So, I have been thinking about starting a blog for a while now, in order to keep people in touch with all of the fun things going on in the Hunter family. I think that if I try to keep up on it, it will be something that allows me to document our kids and their accomplishments, while sharing it with our friends and family.

Therefore, the point of this first blog is to get everyone up to speed. We will start with Julie. She is 18 months now (actually, almost 19) and really starting to talk. She says new words every day, but she still has her favorites:
Doggie (which is any animal really)
Moma
Daddy
Mema
Hi
Bye-bye
banana
apple
cheese
please
thank you
Audrey (pronounced Awww-Dee)
Baby

She also says animal sounds, which is really fun. She can meow, woof, moo and baa. She is also starting to climb...on everything. Luckily the only thing that she does not try to climb is her crib...but I probably just jinxed it! She is also in love with her pig...Karl. She can't sleep without him. He was given to her by her great-uncle Hal when she was just a few days old, and she cuddles with him all the time.

Ok, so now onto Andy. Of course, since Andy isn't here yet, I guess this section would be a little more about me than him, but here it goes anyway. He is still super active and getting really big. We had an appointment last Tuesday and he was measuring about 34.5 weeks, even though we were only 33 weeks. The doctor doesn't think we are going to make it to October, which is fine with us, as long as he has enough time to do what he needs to do in there and join us healthy. His room is pretty much ready and waiting for him, and we can't wait to meet him.

As for John and I, we are not quite as exciting. I am going on maternity leave starting August 29th, which I think will be good for all of us. I know it stresses John out a little with me still working. We are both preparing for Justin and Audrey's wedding in 2 weeks. It is going to be so beautiful and we are just so happy that we are a part of it. I can't wait to see everyone and celebrate with them!

We have had a great summer and seeing that it is almost September, I guess it is coming to a close. We put grass in the back yard, put in a back door that used to be a window, were in our bestest buddies wedding, aka the Hammers (which was awesome) and have turned our guest room into a sports nut nursery for Andy.

So I think that you are all up to date on what is going on. We have a fun weekend planned so more updates to come!!
